7th grade students brought home information about our upcoming Bradford Woods trip. This is an excellent opportunity for students to work together to accomplish tasks. Several students have asked, and it is not the same curriculum that is used during the 4th grade trip. Please pay attention to the information in the packet and make sure it is returned to school by the deadline.
Social Studies -- Today we worked on a small map to find locations when given latitude and longitude coordinates. Many of the students are still having trouble with this, so off and on this next week we will be using the large classroom map to find locations when given coordinates. The main difficulty students are having is understanding that latitude lines are measured north/south and longitude lines are measured east/west.
TBG/Wellness -- During the first few weeks of school, up until we take the ISTEP exam, 7th graders who have TBG will be rotating through our four classrooms throughout the week. Each of us will be reviewing components that will be seen on the ISTEP test in September. On Friday, all four classes will do some sort of activity that will promote team building/cooperation, healthy eating choices, fitness activities, and guest speakers who will talk to students about different careers in the health field or present information about a variety of health topics. This past Friday students went to the small gym to work on cooperative activities. If your son/daughter participated, ask about the yardstick activity and the difficulty experienced with that activity.
Have a great weekend!!!
